You sure can. When you originally purchased the ticket, did you not see a pop up box with an upgrade offer?

You have a couple of options.

You can have a friend/colleague who does have status and does have Plus Points upgrade you. Or you can upgrade with miles (yours or someone elses). Or you can wait for UAs revenue management machine to pepper you with upgrade options right up until departure.

Obviously its going to depend on the routing, and when you are traveling.
