I rented with Hertz for 190 days over the past year. Now I have just under 10,000 points. I was somewhat surprised to see that I could get maybe 2 weeks or rental with this number of points.

I have tried several times to find a "low level" redemption (~4000 for a week) and can't seem to find any, over several time periods and locations. I am starting to think they don't exist.

I might have to take a 1-way rental from Austin to IAH after the eclipse which prices out to 3800 points plus $43 (?) in tax/fees (the airport fees are $8). That seems absurd.

Net, after exploring options with Hertz redemption, I am shocked how little value I can get from my 190 days or rental.

Are Hertz points just a joke? I didn't really expect rental car rewards to be any good, but I certainly didn't think they'd be this bad! 3800 points plus $43 in tax for a one way? I'm better off just taking the $200 uber, although when will i ever be able to use the Hertz points is beyond me.
