While we don't know the number of MMs, given the posts in this thread it seems like probably only a few hundred, or maybe low thousands cross that threshold (or 2MM etc) each year - so maybe 1 to 3 fliers per day tops? Spread that across all the flights UA flies in a given day and for any FA/crew you're pretty unlikely to have it happen on *your* flights. Perhaps you have it happen once every year or two? So if you care about customer service and an opportunity to "celebrate" something relatively rare it seems like making that bit of effort is a pretty obvious step to take.
