Oliver Cromwell died of malaria apparently so it’s a pretty bad disease. The spray seems harmless to me but does sting my eyes slightly. I suppose it could have more serious effects on others.
If you refused to be sprayed what would happen?
I would off load you as it is a legal requirement of flight. However, as pointed out by CWS above it’s a largely academic point
