LCY-EAS Sunday 10th March

Firstly, wow! I stumbled across these Flyer Talk forums whilst trying to find information on my cancelled flight - what an amazing resource and community!
My partner and I were scheduled to fly to EAS this past Sunday, but flight was cancelled whilst in the queue to check in our baggage.
Reason given by BA staff was "poor weather conditions", however, call me cynical, but the were only a few of us in the queue to chat to the disruptions team at LCY.
I checked (and took screenshots) arrivals at both EAS and BIO, where there were no other cancellations and only one minor delay - which leads me to believe BA may have understood the flights and used weather as a means of avoiding paying compensation.
Does anyone here have info on whether my suspicions may have some weight behind them? Can flight loads be accessed after a flight has been cancelled?

Thank you!
