Just wrapping up a three-night stay here. The hotel is fine. It's brand new so the rooms are nice w/o much wear and tear. We also like the design which is influenced by Japanese themes. Arrive very early in the morning from TPE and the room was not ready (not expected) so we went to Taichung. I messaged with them that we'd appreciate an upgrade and will be back around 6 pm. Room was ready around 1 pm but no upgrade. Came back to the hotel around 5.30 and the front desk did not mention anything about an upgrade so I pushed a little. Then they miraculously found us a king but on a low floor. Higher floor kings and suites were available for purchase. I didn't want to push too much but my wife, who is much more savvy than I am and also used to Hyatt standards, leaned on them and we got 31st floor king. Still not a suite but a nice view over the city. Side note: "the no on the suite was that they are almost sold out of them but I thought Titaniums are eligible for suite upgrades (especially base suites) so long anything is available"? Have things changed?

Other than the upgrade issue stay was great. Happy hour in the lounge is from 5 to 7 pm with free flowing booze and many different food choices (that change daily). Breakfast is in the lounge and is great. Alternative for breakfast in the restaurant was not mentioned so I'm not sure it's still an option. But honestly the food in the lounge is really good and you get made-to-order eggs too. Late checkout was offered but we didn't need it. Staff is very nice all around.

Location is awesome: 3 MRT stations to HSR/TRA trains and close to green line tram that takes you to Pier-2 Arts Center. The sidewalk to the hotel is still damaged b/c of construction so just use the other side.

Overall, stingy management that tries to play games with upgrades but other than that a perfectly nice hotel that I'd recommend.
