Always printed out one (found a reasonable looking template on Google and saved it) when Mrs. Swede traveled with the kid(s) to/from Sweden. Had a bank nearby, so it was easy to get notarized for free. I don't think she ever presented the letter once. That said, I think it's a good idea for "just in case" purposes.
