Surely AA wouldn't do something as foolish as give up gates or slots in NYC or LA, and I'd have to think wasting slots on likely saturated domestic routes isn't the right answer?
I would not be surprised if a new commercial agreement (basically a codeshare and FF partnership like with AS) was agreed upon between B6 and AA… which also results in AA leasing a fair number of LGA and JFK slots to B6.
