Honestly, for TPAC flights, from what I hear, UA and *A are the go-to alliance and programmes for redemption. Forget about Skyteam.

FB has also seen its share of devaluation, as any long-time person here on this forum will tell you. Of course, the OP can do whatever he/she likes. We just want to avoid disappointment and eventual threads that all go along the lines of "Why can't I redeem my miles on DL and KE ?".
Plenty of us living in the US use FB miles (often for TATL flights). For TPAC award flights, I agree with you that FB isn't the right program (within SkyTeam, VS is the program we tend to use for that purpose). Since OP is Dutch, I'd assume s/he would be able to take advantage of the redemption opportunities FB program offers for TATL flights.

Devaluation of any FF program is inevitable, unfortunately, so OP would be well advised to choose a transferrable mileage currency for the signup bonus instead if that's an option.
