I think Captain Doug Morris always said it best. If a brain surgeon screws up, they kill their patient. But if a pilot screws up, they kill hundreds. So when you hire pilots, you want the best, not the leftovers that no one else will employ.

Give the pilots a fair comp package and have enough of them employed so they all get appropriate rest ... we don't need another SFO near miss due to pilot fatigue, or anyone nodding off mid-flight and overflying the airport altogether.
