In most cases it makes sense to go through security at the assigned terminal, but if for example the BA flights were using the 3xx gates then going through T1 security would likely be faster .. EI lounge is nicer space than the DAA one with big windows and a lot more seating including on a balcony level that's often closed ... but catering in the DAA lounge is better imo ( fairly poor in the EI lounge )

To echo the comments .. as long as it's not the awful 'South Gates' don't think this makes too much difference [ Is there any long term plan to make a proper extension incorporating the South Gates area and make them into a proper extension to the terminal ? .. it all seems a function of the fact that the DAA squeezed T2 into a very small space and are now running out of expansion options ]
There are plans in the capital investment plan for additional piers in T1 and T2, but both require substantial enabling works and relocation of existing services and buildings.

I would be slightly concerned about the possibility of South Gate usage for flights up until mid afternoon in summer season given 400 gates are heavily occupied by US flights and the fact BA didn’t fight particularly hard to get contact stands in the 300 pier the last time there was a realignment.
