Yes, in particular the first couple of hours when check in opens(as the people who olci check in) and the last couple of hours before check in closes (as people check in at the airport) are very dynamic

I tend to check in, get my boarding pass and then wait until check in is closed and then review the seat map and if I see anything better I ask to be moved. Otherwise i could be moving myself every 10 minutes and ending up worse off.

As OWE then, unless the flight is very busy or very owe heavy, there is good chance the block will hold.

If you move and its full you will have someone next to you in a seat you consider worse, and your original seat will have been reallocated.
