"Eat in the lounge" just means go to the buffet in the restaurant and take your plate into the adjacent lounge. I always eat in the restaurant - the servers are great.
Or perhaps one employee that is bad at check-ins? And, yes, as the restaurant was empty when I arrived, there was no reason not to eat there, and the service was friendly - they even delivered a bowl of syrup when I couldn't find it on the buffet and offered takeaway coffee.
