Breakfast is the star here - I must say, though, the suites sure are better :-) Here are my impressions of my second stay here:
- Only “upgraded” from booked King City View to King Premier - while the Hyatt app claimed I was upgraded, the King Premier sold for $10 less than the King City View - I asked about suites and was told they were “probably” occupied by Globalists and “might” be available later - as I was checking in at 3 PM, the non-committal estimate seemed like more of a way to get me gone more than anything
- Room faced the south, which I’m assuming is the less interesting view as you could see the bay from the elevator lobby window on the other side of the building
- Something was wrong with my check-in as the app showed I hadn’t checked in, the TV wouldn’t load the Chromecast (some sort of older system), and the WiFi wouldn’t accept my room number and last name - I had to go the front desk, and they found a “system error” that magically fixed all of these problems
- The room is fine, but a bit dark and sparse
- Large lounger was comfortable
- Bed is comfortable, but like many Hyatts, has covers that are too thin - plush mattress, pillows fluctuated between a bit too thin or a bit too thick
- Shower pressure is good - smart glass cutout for turning on the water without getting yourself wet
- Nice to see the inclusion of cotton swabs, etc.
- Had to ask to confirm, but no issue with 4 PM late checkout
- Chromecast system seemed like a holdover from Marriott days and required the downloading of an app (StayConnect) - didn’t try
- Given a choice of boxed snacks at check-in - picked the caramel popcorn
- Was not told anything about the destination fee and did not see it on my bill - was given two reusable water bottles, though
- Evening lounge service was some charcuterie and a cheese and onion pizza thing
- Breakfast - told I could eat in lounge or restaurant (same food) - was great - tasty bacon, sausage, eggs, Kouign Amman, croissants, pancakes, etc.
I would return for the breakfast.
