DL could only work on so many planes at once at MCI. 3940 happened to be the one pushed to be back of the pack. As for seats, as I understand it, at the height of the supply chain issues, it took 2-4 years from an airline placing an order to getting the seats they want. Since DL acquired these planes in 2021, I'm not surprised they're not counting on the seats until next year.
