Cancellation for Medical Reasons
Hi all. We have flights booked for 5 of us on one reservation in Economy from YVR to HNL to celebrate my mom's 80th birthday )Our return flights are on Air Canada (same routing)). We don't leave for a few weeks, but my mom has a potentially serious medical issue that may result in her not being able to travel. We do have a travel insurance policy through Seven Corners, but my worry with that will be Westjet will want to give us flight credits instead of refunding our fares, and then Seven Corners won't pay since they would not technically consider this a loss.
I was hoping to hear from folks any tips or strategies to help with getting the tickets refunded if it comes down to it that she isn't medically able to fly. I should be able to get a physicians note verifying this, is there anything that should be included in that? We are all frantic that this trip may not happen, and I'd love not to have to stress too much about unwinding our reservations. Thanks for your help!
