I just don’t think going to Kiyomizu dera at 10 am is particularly enjoyable, regardless of price.
The original amount mentioned looks suspiciously like a typo, I wonder if the price you mentioned was correct and the other person had an extra 3 in their figure (543,450 yen instead of 54,450 yen for three people).
Either way, I agree that going earlier would likely be far more enjoyable, private tour or not. We went early in the day and by the time we returned to the hotel the streets were incredibly packed. This was in January, during the New Year holidays, so lots of tourists both foreign and domestic.
