Marriott has made it quite clear that they view Titaniums on the same level as ambergris - something they can make a ton of money off of, but are loathe to touch or associate with 🙄
I did a 5 night stay there in December. The room physical furnishings were ok - nothing spectacular. On a par with a mid-level FS Marriott. Room amenities were non-existent (for example, no water, other than the $32/bottle Fiji water - the check-in clerk tipped me off on that one). Check-in process was very long and laborious. The front desk clerks were always mobbed. The hotel is badly designed with twisty hallways through public spaces, creating bottlenecks.
If a hotel is going to bill it self as “luxury”, table stakes are:
- twice a day room servicing
- small touches like bottled water and turndown amenities (chocolate or whatever)
- not having to wait for 20-30 minutes to interact with staff - this should be pretty much instant (less than 5 minutes).
So yeah, I’d rate the place (from a hotel perspective) as a courtyard attached to a bunch of overpriced restaurants.
No. All MGM properties have carve-outs so they don’t have to extend any brand benefits.
Ah OK. Thanks for the clarification. I just stayed at a Court Yard for business and it was abysmal.
I continue to rue the day when Marriott purchased Starwood... I never stayed at any Marriotts when Starwood existed for a number of reasons. Now it appears we are all beginning to realize the general motel 6esque feel to Marriott's properties. Alas.... I've ended up at the Vdara, as this hotel has the rates that falls within my company's policy.
