Again, probably also different preferences. We prefer quality over quantity. I do not need a taco station when in Japan.
Thanks for the update on hotels in Europe. My comments on the Conrad Tokyo are based on 3 stays between 2016 and 2019. We were very very impressed. I am surprised to hear that Hyatt Regency and other hotels you named have such high quality breakfast offerings! I will have to keep that in mind when we visit Europe in the future. In Germany, we stayed at the Le Meridien Munich and the breakfast was fine for Europe, but not comparable to the Conrad. The Park Hyatt Vendome's breakfast was very good, but again, we thought the Conrad Tokyo was superior. And just last July, both the Conrad London St. James, and the Hotel Lungarno (SLH we booked via Hyatt) were good, but again, for Europe. I hope we won't be too disappointed by the Conrad Tokyo in April when we return for a 7 night visit. If it's worse than breakfast in Europe, that would be a real bummer!
