Well, honestly, this suites me very well. I have service from my local airport on AA. No UA, no DL, and no LCC. In fact, getting into UA and DL hubs from OKC and TUL isn't all that easy either. I don't think there is any TUL/OKC-EWR/SFO/IAD flights. Last time I try to fly DL internationally, it was TUL-DTW-AMS, and when the once a day TUL-DTW leg was cancelled, DL gave me zero options other than delaying my trip a whole 24 hours (TUL-DTW no longer exists at all).
90% of my flying is domestic, often to other smaller airports, and I can get to a huge chunk of the US 'my house door to hotel lobby' within about 7 hours. It's awesome. And, for international flights, AA connections to oneworld airlines mostly works (there are exceptions -- like getting to Cape Town South Africa).
I'd like a bit more connectivity to Africa and Asia as well (from DFW,
please and thank you), but an airline can't and shouldn't try to be everything to everyone.
