Perhaps PVG is a different story, but I had zero issues during my late Dec trip with CZ at the airport or online at PKX, CAN, and HRB. Sure, OLCI doesn't work but it was never an issue just to arrive at the airport and get docs checked there. The food in Y was better than many western carriers I've been on. I called their customer service centre in China once to add my FB number to the reservation so I'd get my benefits and it was never an issue. They even greeted me on-board by name due to my status ! But I speak mandarin and am of Chinese origin, so maybe that was a factor, although, you cannot expect the whole world to speak English......
With CI (actually TPE in general) I've had issues with punctuality leaving TPE, but perhaps I'm just unlucky. Their on-board product is quite good especially on the A350, and the redemption rates with FB are good but I cannot speak for TPAC as I don't fly to that direction.
