Sounds like you did all that you could in the circumstances, both at TPE and during transit.

Might be worth taking up as a complaint with Lufthansa, and unless they can give you written assurance from the TPE station manager that the same thing would not happen again for your future flight then you should be able to lean on LH for a reroute or refund.
