After all the promotions last year, and because of family pooling, I'm sitting on a six figure balance of Frontier miles. And I'm struggling to find good uses for them.

Various blogs claim that Frontier miles are worth about 1 cent each, which honestly sounds pretty good. But I rarely see that value. For example, we are considering going to PUJ for spring break. I can redeem 15k miles and pay $47 in taxes and fees for the one-way, or pay $97 for a revenue ticket. That's a redemption of about 0.33 cents per mile. Ouch.

OTOH, my wife needed to fly LAS-DEN today at the last minute. So I redeemed 10k miles for a same day ticket, which offset a $110 walk-up fare. That redemption worked out to 1 cpm, which was good. But that's because I was redeeming last minute.

Now I'm only sort of complaining here. The reason that it's hard to redeem F9 miles for a decent CPM is because their fares are so low to begin with. i.e. it's not because their awards cost a lot of miles, it's because their revenue fares are so cheap.

So I'm wondering, what cpm do you shoot for when redeeming F9 miles? What awards have you booked that you felt got you good value?
