Pre-departure, purser worked his way through first thanking 1ks (no GS preboards) and then looked at his phone and looked up at me. He said the captain wanted to see me in the cockpit because this was my million mile flight. I said I thought that wasn't for another 4 days, he said no, says so right here. Who am I to argue?

The captain thanked me, sat me in the left seat, gave me a coin and a signed business card (his title is Standards Captain A319/A320) and asked me what my favorite UA destination was over the years. I said flying into Kai Tak in the nose of a 744 was the best. He agreed. He said I was the second time someone had crossed a million on a flight of his.

Later I remembered to ask for a signed flight plan or weight and balance sheet and asked the purser to ask the captain. The purser came back to me with both, both signed by the captain and first officer. Each flight attendant came by and thanked me at some point during the flight. The captain and purser thanked me on the way out and shook my hand again. It was all I could have hoped for.

The miles counter in the app and online said 997,771 before I left Austin and both read 999,513 now after AUS-LAX-SFO credited. I had lots of plan changes this week, and was originally supposed to cross the threshold on the day of this flight, but never on this flight. I will be interested to see what happens when I actually cross next week, I suspect nothing, which is just fine. I am a happy camper.
Excellent. I was just hanging on to see if you were going to be acknowledged on each of the succeeding flights. You’d look like a North Korean general with all your medals!
