It's just bizarre the amount of crazy things people put themselves through to use this fairly simple credit...

Ha...yes, it would be easier. But with the way it panned out for me (not expected), had I stuck with that flight, I would be unable to make any changes through Delta as in the past. So if I needed to change my flight time due to an incoming storm, I'd have to do it through C1 and probably pay the fare difference instead of changing for free with Delta. In the past I've always been able to change the flight and have Delta take over the booking but for whatever reason (glitch or on purpose) Delta would not let me change or cancel this booking. If the price dropped, I wouldn't get Delta ecredit either like in the past. It's not a big deal if that's what you're expecting, it's just not what I was expecting.

The reason I planned to cancel the flight for credit is then I can use the $300 credit towards a different (more expensive flight) and pay partially with the card I used to book my hotels, in which case that card's travel insurance would kick in for those hotels. If I booked the flight on C1 and the hotels on the other card, pretty sure I'd have no coverage for the hotel.
