Sure they are, if they're in the process of physically moving seats, you might end up with one that isn't marketed as preferred, but still has the space.
That would explain the descrepency in the seatmaps if that is what is happening.
So I guess my response would/should have been "If the extra space is important/critical, go with the AC seatmap".
