Ask to speak with a NW supervisor and they should be able to book you into the exit row. I've never had a NW rep who knew that MVPs could book an exit row. I always have to explain it to them, they check with their supervisor and then they have to call another department to get it done. I'm not sure why it is so complicated but there's one thing I do know, notating your PNR will do nothing.

I am a NW Platinum Elite and run into the same initial roadblocks when I get exit row seating. When you talk to a CSR they in turn will always put you on hold to make a call in order to get the exit row seats.
I was very happy recently with the AS CSR I spoke to regarding a ticket in F that Mrs. TRVLRZ and I are on to PVR. I could not get pre-assigned seats through NW, spoke to a AS CSR and she very promptly helped us. She even went as far as telling me that 2 A&C are in her opinion the best seats on a 739, let me get those for you.
