You asked why anyone would do that, I gave you a reason. Eating in club lounges during vacations has probably saved our family thousands of dollars over the years, money that could go towards non-food related experiences.
The convenience of being only a few meters from your room after a long, busy day is another.
Fair enough, would’ve never come to my mind though. Probably also a huge cultural difference as we didn’t see any other guest from Europe/Asia during the happy hour.
