I think the first row has really good legroom. I take seat 1A whenever I get a chance and I think it is the best seat on any American single aisle plane (except the A321 Transcons).

Being in first class you should be able to carry on your bags. A regular size carry on will in the E175 bins, there is just a limit of how many of them are allowed. American doesn't gate check for the 175's, it is either carry on or checked as normal baggage at the gate.

You will get beverage service including coffee and a choice of 'premium' snacks, but not a full breakfast. I am a big fan of the stroopwaffels when they have them.

I think you will enjoy the E175, it feels more like a mainline plane than a regional jet.
Thanks to both of you. Stroopwaffels!!! I didn't know what those were until recently. We don't usually take morning flights and sometimes I'm not in the mood for breakfast until later. Not looking for real food, maybe I'll just wait until JFK.

You don't suppose they would have any sparkling wine in First, do you? I'm trying to find info on AA.com but I can only see something about food which I know doesn't apply. I realize that's a lot to ask so I sometimes drink poor man's champagne. Chateau Club Soda vintage 1984. It's expensive, but worth it.

This is all I can find about drinks:

Complimentary drinks

Our premium cabins are stocked with a variety of beers, wines and spirits to complement the inflight menu. Each wine we serve goes through an extremely selective process as part of our award-winning wine program.*

*On flights with full drink service. The number of drinks served may be limited.
