Just to follow up on the review by
MikeyBee , here are some updates following my recent stay.
Diamond member, 5 night stay on points (144,000).
I received an automated T-72 hour upgrade from base room to Deluxe Room w/ Ocean View in the centre section of the 'U' shaped building a very short walk and lift ride from reception.
This was a west-facing - i.e. towards the ocean - room on the 2nd (top) floor. The balcony therefore gets the sun in the afternoon and has a great view of the sunset.
I arrived in the evening and there was no queue to check-in, but the process still took around 5-10 minutes.
However, after handing over my passport, I was invited to relax in the sunken central area of lobby while they did what they needed to do; a hotel employee then appeared with some biscuits and a glass of sweet mint tea while I waited.
A welcome drinks voucher was offered, which stated it was only good for one (1) drink between 6pm and 7pm in Suave bar and excluded alcohol. I never visited the bar, so can't tell you if there is any flexibility provided in timing or drink choice.
There was no welcome amenity in the room, but the complimentary bottles of water were replenished daily.
There is a refrigerated drawer in the built-in wardrobe.
The room temperature couldn't be adjusted to lower than 23C even when the external ambient temperature was lower.
The hotel wasn't especially busy at any time during my stay, although there seemed to be an increase in local guests at the weekend.
Altogether, a pleasant environment for relaxation.
There is an ATM in the hotel lobby. I didn't have cause to use it, but it's operated by Euronet, so no doubt the fees will be exorbitant.
Each of the grocery stores I visited in Taghazout village itself - 4km to the north along the promenade - accepted EUR cash at an exchange rate of EUR 1 = MAD 10. Change was given in MAD.
There is a cluster of three cafes just back from the promenade about 500m walk north of the hotel, selling drinks / coffees / light dishes.
Breakfast is extensive with a dedicated egg chef and delicious pastries. Seating available both inside and outside.
The Mediterranean restaurant between the pools and the ocean (open all day) was hit and miss for me. Some good dishes, but the medium fillet steak I ordered was significantly undercooked and not the most tender.
I didn't visit the Moroccan restaurant (open evenings only; closed Tuesdays) or the spa.
The bills printed by the restaurant have a line for tips, but the waiter said they couldn't accept tips and scored out the tip I'd entered.
The staff were universally pleasant and professional.
I arranged third party car transfers to / from Agadir Airport which cost EUR 30 each way and took around 45 mins to 1 hour depending on traffic.
Happy to answer any questions where I can!
View from room just after sunset.
