When you arrive to PVG there is non existent/easy connection to your next flight.
you have to stay in a queue, pass immigration, collect your bag, pass customs, go out, find check-in desk, realise that they are not open for another few hours, free/wasted time, back to the desk and check in your bag, get ticket, queue, security, immigration, lounge/gate.
Lesson learned to avoid PVG as transit airport.
I had a flight with 220 ticket RIX-FRA-PVG-AKL with the last leg being NZ on 2023 Nov. Bag was checked in without any issues all the way to AKL.
In my case I had to go to NZ desk (before immigration), they gathered a group of people and transferred us through hidden entrance to another terminal w/o having to do immigration. I also saw people continuing forward with BR (EVA Air) which underwent the same procedure successfully.
