I would compare the transfer to 2G to a flight with Cityhopper from Schiphol, and the awful holding pen at the foot of the C gates or D gates for NS flights. The experience is awful. Limited seating and amenities to speak of, followed by a rather extensive bus ride to the Fokker Farm. Meanwhile, a transfer to 2G at CDG at least included a (rather lovely) lounge followed by a walk to the gate. I actually find it rather civilised.
Well, if you think the lounge at 2G is rather lovely, then we have differing views. Which means, that I fear what I will encounter in AMS, when I connect there next month. I haven't flown KL in a decade, but this was the only reasonable connection. I fear to check and see if I am flying CityHopper.
As for the walk to the gate, all well and good if you aren't on crutches (as some people were on my flight) or using a walker or dealing with children in a stroller.
