Whatever your MGM Rewards status is, it shall remain. You get no bump from your Bonvoy status.
The only way for Marriott Bonvoy members to get any benefits during stays at MGM Hotels is by booking via their Bonvoy account and leveraging Bonvoy status -- which, as I posted above, appears to force you to pay outrageously high and uncompetitive room rates.
But note that only Ambassador tier members in Bonvoy get any benefits at MGM. Ambassador members get a big list of benefits when booking/staying at an MGM property. Anything below Ambassador - anything between Bonvoy dirt level and BonvoyTitanium - and you essentially get zero tier benefits when staying at MGM.
This 'partnership' appears to be a one-sided deal, at least for us as Bonvoy members.
My plan: if I go to Vegas, I won't bother with Bonvoy in any way. I'm more likely to try to bump up my MGM status -- which gives me better-than-Bonvoy room rates and better-than-Bonvoy benefits.
I understand there's no status, I'd just like the fact that I'm Bonvoy Plat to be on my MGM account. Or maybe that's not even a thing? Regardless, MGM doens't know what I am since I'm unable to even link my Bonvoy account on the MGM site.
