Sorry, that's my bad. "Latitude" is what Aeroplan calls "Flexible" bookings you can freely refund and change in economy. In Business, it's called "Flexible". In Economy, "Flex" is something else. I know, it's dumb. You want Latitude.
Bottom line:
Business Flexible and Economy Latitude rewards have free unlimited changes and cancellation, book that. Then downgrade before flying for a refund of miles difference between the booking classes once you're happy with your finalized itinerary. If your itinerary involves an AC segment, this will trigger a reprice so check if it actually gets cheaper first. If all-partner, then no reprice is trigger and you'll get the difference refunded.
