You had a sad case with an unhelpful agent in TPE. CA can interline without issues, especially on international connections where you might not have a visa for China.

Just to clarify that yesterday, I escalated to the line manager who came to the desk while doing my checkin and confirmed that there was no way they would interline the baggage. I complained and complained, both in Chinese and English, to no avail...

I will now initiate a case with Lufthansa.
