More recently I opened another Chase card, but my initial credit limit was very low on this card, so I consolidated the credit limit from the Bountiful to the new card by phone, once a few months ago, and again last week.
The first time, the phone rep told me that I could move over everything except $1000 plus the then-current balance on the card.
This second time, I was surprised to hear that the minimum credit limit I could keep on the Bountiful was $500, but since I wanted the highest possible credit limit on the new card (for daily spending), I agreed.
Now I am checking my accounts, and the annual fee of $250 for the Bountiful has been refunded.
I remember reading about the credit limit being linked to the annual fee somehow, but I cannot remember the details.
The biggest point I am worried about is getting my SUB clawed back, in case they think I wanted to "close" the account before the 1st year has passed.
Has anyone experienced anything similar? Should I call the bank first thing in the morning to reverse this somehow?
Thanks in advance.
After some searching, I guess I found the reason:
Ritz-Carlton Visa Infinite - closed for applications 7.26.2018 (2016-2021)
Maybe this was why the first rep told me that the minimum CL I could have was $1000, which makes the annual fee exactly 25%.
Due to the well-documented state of the above thread I am guessing I won't be getting any negative results from this (e.g., clawback of SUB), but please let me know if anyone wishes to advise me otherwise.
