Ugh -- I recently rented a Hertz vehicle. It was brand new so I was able to register it to my E-ZPass account. Wouldn't you know, my transponder was not picked up for one of the tolls. The other one (I only had two) was picked up just fine. Even though it had been registered to my account, I received a bill from PlatePass for a $9.99 (in)convenience fee plus a $6.85 toll. I've contacted PlatePass about this. I'm wondering why the toll wasn't properly picked up when the car was registered to my account. I didn't want to leave it on my account after I returned it so I removed it the next day. I would have thought E-Z Pass kept a record of when vehicles were on / off my account and used that if the transponder was not properly read. I guess n
