If it was on one ticket, your bags would be checked through to AMS and you would just go through flight connections and not have to deal with changing terminals.

If on separate tickets, even BA-BA you would still have to collect your bags at T5 and take them upstairs to check them in. But you wouldn’t have to worry about changing terminals and you would just go back through security after dropping your bags.
