Was looking at the Rio for an upcoming trip in May. Had tentatively planned to stay at the Silverton HP, likely on points. Prices are avg. for four night stay, including one Friday night.

HP Silverton: 9000 points/night
HP Silverton: corp leisure rate: $153 or AAA flexible rate: $176

Rio renovated King Deluxe: 9000 points/night (the website says a $40 resort fee applies, but that is presumably just their IT's inability to hide that warning for awards?!)
Rio renovated King Deluxe: $139 (incl. RF)
Rio run-down King: $94 (incl. RF)

The HP is more conveniently located to where we will be (visiting F&F). Also likely easier to get from room to car and vice versa. As an Explorist I don't get free breakfast or really anything at the Rio (presumably no free upgrade to renovated room when booking the run-down room).

So I guess I will book (if Hyatt) the HP again. Or see what AA miles/LP I can get via AA Hotels when going free agent. If I was Glob, the $40 RF savings + the free (better) breakfast at the Rio might be enough to go there... but I am not.
