What he really implied was that they *could* raise these fees while *remaining* competitive. :-)
In other words, "it's not AC's fault, it's WS, which raised theirs first." :-)
Still, at the end of the day, the whole "unbundling" business is a product of these web sites which chase for the "lowest" price, and it's the faultnot so much of the airlines but of the people foolish enough to blindly go with these data without looking at the details and not checking what this "lowest" price does not include.
Surely most of us here are aware of the various fare types and what they include, so the increase in these fees should be of no significance. Rather the reverse actually.
