Sorry for bumping this, but, having just stayed here, I would agree with the OP’s assessment that the property is not at the Fairmont level. Annoying nickel-and-diming on things such as charging $30 to use the sauna (free for ALL Platinum members; I’m only Gold), not offering any alcoholic options for the welcome drink and having turn-down only by request. Having a reservation system for the pool on weekends is cumbersome but not insurmountable and it at least meant that we got the pool to ourselves once. I think the main problem is that it feels very dated for a 3-year old property, the rooms are a good size but the décor feels old-fashioned and not in a “trad” way. The problems the OP mentions about bath plugs remain, sadly, and the closets are not fit for purpose. I got a reasonable rate so can’t complain too hard, but I’d avoid if paying full price.
