I've long enjoyed reading this trip report blog, and they flew the Room last year. Earlier trip reports from this same blog, about ANA, were glowing, for instance:

I like very much what ANA has done with the Business Class cabin. The seat is comfortable and offers a high degree of privacy. My only complaint is that perhaps the seat is just a bit too narrow, but not to a degree where it prevents you from sleeping.
But wow, their opinion of the Room is scathing!

That was a bit of a let down, from the mess at check-in and the crowds in the lounge to the very bland food on the plane and the uncomfortable seat, this was not a pleasant experience with ANA. I seriously think I’m going to have to see a chiropractor when I get back.
It does not jibe with my experience, I thought the Room was really impressive, but perhaps I am more used to sleeping on harder surfaces (e.g., sleeping on tatami floor with just a small futon blanket). Nevertheless, it's clear that there are mixed views and a substantial contingent of customers have issues with the cushioning.
