I'm the poster who believed (and still believes) AS would price awards based on the sum of segment-by-segment distances. Just take a look at how AS prices FUK-TPE-MFM flight on JX (JX has been one of the few partner airlines that AS has already applied the new award chart for some time now).
Both FUK-TPE and TPE-MFM flights (in Y) on JX are priced at 7.5k each, as expected. The direct FUK-MFM distance is less than 1,300 miles, but guess what FUK-(TPE)-MFM flight is priced at? 25k (exactly what the new award chart says based on the sum of the distances)! NOT 7.5k (or even 15k).
