The "notation" means "I want to get you off the phone so I'm going to make a meaningless notation in your record." Ask to speak with a NW supervisor and they should be able to book you into the exit row. I've never had a NW rep who knew that MVPs could book an exit row. I always have to explain it to them, they check with their supervisor and then they have to call another department to get it done. I'm not sure why it is so complicated but there's one thing I do know, notating your PNR will do nothing.
