I googled this and there are a whole lot of travel 'experts' who claim a middle name is not required on your ticket. The consensus is that as long as your middle name is in your airline profile, that is what will be transmitted to TSA and that is sufficient. They agree that TSA is only focusing on first and last name.

I could not find a government site that answered this question either way.
