Here's an update. My wife followed AlwaysFlyStar's advice (thanks a lot!!!) and submitted to SOEP her "story" plus all pertinent copies of receipts as pdfs. She got a reply from them today that LH would accept paying all of her expenses! Moreover, if they don't do it within six weeks SOEP promised to follow up!
Here's a further update (although this matter is clearly off-topic).
1) Within two weeks from the day SOEP answered LH reacted and paid all expenses that my wife claimed and they were refusing to pay. Of course, LH has no apology or excuse, but so be it. Thanks, SOEP!
2) Yesterday, 7 months after the delayed flight and 5 months after involving an "online law firm" (here,
EU-claim) the compensation also made it to my wife's account. Of course, EU-claim "deducted" fees and taxes of about 40% but this was known to her from the beginning. Again, LH offered neither apology nor excuse, but it is nice to know that German courts are far more logical than the airline...
