I too am an AA refugee (2 MM LT Platinum), who felt abandoned after the US Air hostile takeover, forced to suffer WN's miserable IntraCalifornia "service" until rescued by AS. Prior to the pandemic, I frequently visited family SAN-EWR, upgrades were relatively easy for 75k, common for MVPG.
Business takes me to all 4 major Hawaiian islands, upgrades are becoming very hit and miss, Y+ is often full, even when the back of the bus is not.
When checking bags, I find the lines outside to be relatively short and quick, although agents tend to be the least experienced, struggle when any issues arise.
All things considered, I am a relatively happy camper, do not understand some of the hate found in this forum.
