"Flying home" for delayed baggage claim

Hi all, I flew XXX-CDG-LHR yesterday and my checked bags failed to make the final flight with BA, and it has yet to shown up at my hotel yet. I've purchased some necessary clothes and toiletries to survive the night, but may need to purchase more should the bags not arrive soon. I understand the airline is liable to reimburse these necessities in most circumstances, except when you are "flying home". The thing is: I am a British citizen but do not actually live in the UK, how will BA determine if the UK is my "home"? Will a foreign bank statement or other letters be sufficient proof? Thanks for the help in advance.
