There is no disclosure except for some vague language about "occupancy taxes, energy surcharges, and resort fees." There is no apparent limit on these fees, and back when CA hotels were charging $3 energy surcharges it was below most people's dispute thresholds. Now you could get hit with 35% extra on top of what you thought you paid for a hotel room.

As far as BFT policy regarding protecting its affilliate income, it varies. I know BFT discourages posts about eBay Anything Points. But I have been allowed to post regarding rental car counter upgrades, which are a great way to save on rent-a-cars and which benefit neither PL nor its affiliates. (Buy a subcompact on PL and, likely as not, you will be able to upgrade to a fullsize or SUV at the counter for $10.) More likely BFT realizes the hotel-upcharge issue could sink PL entirely.
