Wow found this thread after my first stay here this week - wouldn’t have stayed if I read it first. Nothing but positives from me:
  • biggest problem was that a BA flight had recently returned after a six hour flight to nowhere due to an engine malfunction well over 100 super angry Americans were given vouchers by BA just stay at this property. So bad that on the Hoppa people were yelling at the driver when he asked for their vouchers. I managed to find a member of the staff in the lobby when I arrived and discreetly asked her if there was a way to check in as a titanium member who wasn’t part of the canceled flight. They were wonderful at handling this in such a way the irate large group didn’t notice that I was very impressed and saved me over an hour at check-in.
  • The property has a giant car park, which was great for finding somewhere to go for a run at 11 PM when I arrived to keep my running streak alive.
  • Upgraded to an executive runway view, which, while a slight bit noisy was great Plane spotting.
  • Absolutely frigid air conditioning in the room at got as cold as any property. I’ve seen anywhere in the world. Always a nice change for Europe/UK.
  • Lounge breakfast was nothing to write home about but plenty to eat unless you need to stuff your face at breakfast
  • Again at check out super friendly staff. Asked to speak to the manager to complement them on the way they handled my check-in the night before and they seemed super happy to receive the feedback.
  • only one problem: when they posted to my Marriott account, it posted as 250 base points on a rate that was at least four times that. This isn’t the only property to do this in the last month outside the US, so I wonder if Marriott in general is playing some silly exchange rate games
